Last week was a bit of a mini whirlwind for me! For starters, I got struck by a surprise cold which kept me in bed, and my motivation to do anything productive well beyond arm’s reach.
It was also mine and my boyfriend’s 2 year anniversary of being a couple on the 1st of the month. Luckily it was also his week-long break from school, so we actually got to spend it together! We didn’t really plan anything special though, in typical us fashion. But we DID get to take advantage of the surprise snowfall that hit us rather intensely last week as well.
We are lucky enough to live a 5 minute walk away from the largest park in the city, so we often go for walks through there. But there was something even more special about it right after the fresh snowfall. Of course, being me, I can never turn my blogger brain off, even while on a “date.” Knowing that this would make for a brilliant photo-op, I grabbed my camera before we left and got some gorgeous nature shots! I’ve been posting some of these shots sporadically on my Instagram as well, so if you follow me over there (which you should!) you may have seen some of them already!
Of course, at the time I am writing this, it is now 10 degrees (celsius) outside and all this beautiful snow is already melted, and has been replaced by a fresh layer of mud… so I’m glad I was able to get these shots when I did!
We love to visit this park quite often. It’s become one of our regular “spots.” There are several different paths you can take and you can end up in a different place each time, but our most frequented path is the off-leash one. We will often stop in the dog park and just sit and watch all the dogs. No, we don’t even have a dog to bring (yet), we’re just that dorky!! There’s even a little restaurant/café in the park that we will sometimes stop in and split a plate of fries. It’s become quite a fun way to spend a weekend afternoon!
While I am VERY much looking forward to spring (my favourite season!) peeking its head around the corner at any given moment, I’m happy to have been able to take the time to appreciate the last few weeks, or possibly days, of winter, while we still have it! Winter sure isn’t my favourite time of year, but it does have its moments!
The best part of winter ending, though? I scored a brand new pair of snow boots on clearance! …Huzzah!
